Know Your History: NBA

Although, now we have some pretty nice kicks from the NBAs biggest players; most of whom are black players, nearly 70 years ago, black and whites weren't even playing on the same court. As we celebrate Black History Month (BHM) with our new Jordan BHM IIIs, or even the Nike "Know Your History" tee, take time to think about the history and how far we as a people have came and how far as a people we have yet to go.

NBA FACTS: During the 1950-1951 Season, Chuck Cooper became the first black player to be drafted when he was chosen by Boston; Nat "Sweetwater" Clifton became the first black player to sign an NBA contract when he signed with New York, and Earl Lloyd became the first black player to play in an NBA regular-season game.

Air Jordan Retro 3 "Black History Month"

Yesterday a few "teaser" pictures dropped on the "Black History Month" (BHM) Air Jordan Retro 3, however today the official pictures has show up. The shoe features a black nubuck and leather upper, complimented by metallic gold hits on the tongue, eyelets, heel and contrast stitching throughout. These new pictures also reveal a BHM patch on the backside of the tongue and graphic work on the footbed similar to what we saw on Kobe shoe, which was posted earlier this week.

Before you get ready to run to your local sneaker store, these Retro will be limited with only 3,000 pairs being released. The Black History Month Air Jordan Retro 3 will drop as a Quickstrike and Jordan retailers next month. Keep reading as I will keep you all posted on updates with this and all the other Black History Month Sneakers.
